As I was getting into the car to go to work yesterday, I noticed a sizeable web in the little strip of bushes that divides our driveway from the next one over. I ran back inside, grabbed the camera, and ended up getting several decent shots of the web and its occupant: a dime-sized spider with what looked to be a (US-)quarter-sized egg sac.

- Congrats to Bert Rutan and the whole Scaled Composites crew on winning the Ansari X Prize yesterday.
- Regrets on the passing of Mercury 7 astronaut Gordon ‘Gordo’ Cooper. The seven are now three.
